WESTMINSTER — Autopsies are being performed on an Oconee County man authorities say shot and killed his 11-year-old adopted daughter and wounded her mother before turning the gun on himself.
Authorities say 34-year-old William Tippett called 911 to report that he had shot his family at their home on Saturday night. Several minutes later, authorities say a woman called to say that her husband had shot her and their daughter before shooting himself.
Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis says the girl, Riley Nicole Dyar Tippett, was found shot dead in her bedroom. Her mother was found nearby, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Hospital officials said the girl’s 29-year-old mother was hospitalized in critical condition. Her name has not been released.
